12th Street Riot Detroit
The 12th Street Riot was in Detroit Michigan in 1967. It is now at the corner of Rosa Parks and Clairmount Street. It was one of the most violent revolts in the 20th century. It started because of police brutality and they were mad about segregation. The government reacted as well as the police. The government sent in army troops to help get everything under control. They were needed to stop all of the beating and breaking in to building and for the steeling. It lasted four long days for the Detroit police force, the citizens involved and the army. The impact it had on the city was bad. It started a downfall in the city. People lost jobs, houses and there was a great deal of robbery. The city lost money and there economy dropped. People fled to other places to live and start over. Detroit is still having money problems today.
